How we measure and set goals
The basis for meaningful climate work is in carbon emissions: understanding them, measuring them and setting goals to reduce them. By measuring and targeting the emissions caused by our customers’ homes and properties, we can work purposefully to reduce our biggest climate impact – our financing.
SBAB’s climate goal is aligned with the global 1.5°C goal and was established using science-based methods. The goal will be validated using the Science Based Targets initiative’s framework. SBAB has already joined the Science Based Targets initiative. Climate goals are based on intensity and CO2e per m2.
The goal – reduce emissions 50 %
The overall goal for 2038 is to reduce our emissions from lending to retail customers, tenant-owners’ associations and corporate customers by 50%. By measuring and targeting the emissions caused by our customers’ homes and properties, we can work purposefully to reduce our biggest climate impact – our financing. The goal is reported annually in our Climate Report.
